As part of my Middle and High School Art curriculum, I teach the art of mosaic. Students love learning the techniques, tools and materials to create rich artworks from glass tiles. To enhance my assignments, by including the history and techniques of ancient mosaics, I was awarded a Faculty Summer Travel Grant to travel to Northern Italy to study with Luciana Notturni at The Mosaic Art School in Ravenna. Ravenna is a World Heritage Site for mosaics, featuring some of the oldest, most beautiful mosaics in the world. I am very excited to be able to share this fascinating experience with my students.
