The A-side is the Italian rendition of Larry Kusik's Love Said Goodbye, which itself is a lyrical adaptation already; L'Amore Ha Detto Adio, written by Stelio Silvestri and Sergio Paolini.
Based on the instrumental The Immigrant, as composed by Nino Rota for The Godfather Part II. Fred Bongusto recorded a medley with this song the month prior and Johnny Dorelli a standalone version in Italian already a year and a half prior.

Released on Durium in 1975, Mino and his brother Franco produced this record together. Mino would go on to re-record L'Amore Ha Detto Addio (Love Said Goodbye) Tema Dal Film Il Padrino Parte II under the title Il Padrino Parte II for his 1996 CD Story Vol. 1. - Where another relative of his just noted as E. Reitano arranged it similarly.

The B-side is an original composition with lyrics by Mino and the arrangement and orchestra direction by Franco. Carmine Coppola also is credited as an author on it, which is actually how I found it. That is because the track opens with a melody we know from the first two Godfather films as "Antico Canto Siciliano". A traditional Sicilian song which Carmine wrongly took writing credit for since then: Mi Votu E Mi Rivotu, the oldest attested song with lyrics in the Sicilian language. To be fair, he did compose said original intro melody for his arrangements on the soundtracks and The Godfather's Family Wedding Album, though. And that is precisely why the Reitano brothers decided to credit him.

To further squeeze the association with the movie, they of course worked the Godfather name into the title ;-) The Reitano brothers were from the southernmost part of Calabria in Fiumara and Calabrese is very closely related to Sicilian. Compare [pronounced "Cumpare"] is a word in Sicilian and Calabrian used for a godfather... That being the religious/personal title, not a crime boss, lol. But also a best man at a wedding, as well as the bridegroom or even just someone you mean to call mate, buddy, dude, so on. Remember Julius La Rosa's immensely popular version of Eh, Cumpari? Yeah!
