Road climbs rapidly through wilderness corridor to ridge atop Inyo Mountains. Great views, and historical mining structures including the Salt tramway station. Route goes past Cerro Gordo Mines and Ghost Town. 4x4 is a must , Trail rated 5 /10 high point 9,342 ft. Took us roughly 8hrs to complete ( ate lunch at the cabin up top ) check out the map on onxoffroad.
Camped over night at Tuttle , only 25 min away from trail head. Highly recommend very quiet and plenty of open space. $10 a night with bathrooms and a fire pit.
