As you can see in the video link above, we originally installed the Lensmate on the ZV-1 before we received the Ulanzi kit. Although the Lensmate performed perfectly as a filter holder, we didn't think it was quite secure/stable enough to hold the Ulanzi without wiggling around. So, we decided to remove the Lensmate. After the Lensmate adapter is removed with the included handy removal tool, we install the mounting ring that comes with the Ulanzi wide angle lens and demonstrate the functionality of the various wide and macro lens configurations. The immediate impression is that the aluminum adapter ring provided by Ulanzi will hold a 52mm filter, or the wide angle lens, onto the ZV-1 much more securely that the Lensmate adapter kit.

In conclusion, our recommendation, if you want to add a filter to the lens of your Sony ZV-1, the 52MM adapter ring that comes with the Ulanzi WL-1 wide angle is far superior to the Lensmate filter adapter. The included Ulanzi adapter ring holds 52 mm filters, as well as, the wide angle lens much more securely than the Lensmate adapter would have. While we do think the Lensmate would do a fine job of simply holding filters on, if that's all you want to do, but we didn’t feel the plastic Lensmate adapter was going to be strong enough to dependably hold on our wide-angle lens. So, since we plan on switching from 52mm filters to the wide angle lens and back and forth occasionally, we didn’t need the Lensmate at all because the Ulanzi kit comes with everything you need to add a removable 52mm filter or the wide-angle lens, depending on your shooting needs. And for our money, $50 for a great wide angle lens for the Sony ZV-1 is a tremendous bargain.
