Ondy Austin profile
Given that there is extremely sparse information available about this wrestler anywhere, we will have to concede that this profile page will be something of a stub until we manage to gather some more personal information on Ondy Austin.
Most active during the late 80s and early 90s, Ondy Austin wasn’t exactly what one would call a "high profile" wrestler, even though she did rack up a fair amount of matches in her career and she even won a title or two. Ondy Austin was the definition of the explosively fast wrestler, often going up into high-risk territory and delivering moves some of which were way ahead of their time. Given her diminutive size, (in a 1989 Milwaukee, Wisconsin, bout against Wendi Richter, she looked like a small child wrestling an adult), she had no choice but to be extremely aggressive and to lend her moves additional momentum in every conceivable way.
One of her signature moves was the elbow drop off the top rope, a move which often ended up backfiring, as her opponent would roll out of the way, leaving her to hit the canvas and thus essentially setting herself up for the 1-2-3.
Ondy Austin wrestled for several organizations, what we do know for sure though is that she actually wrestled Wendi Richter for the AWA Women’s title in a TV-taping match. She ended up losing that bout, but she did give her much larger opponent a run for her money (there’s actually a video of this match on YouTube).
In the WCPW (Windy City Pro Wrestling) she was much more successful. There, she defeated reigning champion Candi Divine to take home the title. She ended up losing the championship to The Dazzler in 1989, but she bounced back and defeated The Dazzler to reclaim her belt.
She then lost the title to Lisa LA Star, but bounced back yet again and defeated her too to reclaim the belt yet again. She lost the WCPW title for good to Lisa LA Star who was later stripped of the belt.
The bottom line: having locked up with some of the best wrestlers the ladies professional wrestling scene of the era could produce, Ondy Austin has proved that despite her diminutive size, her intensity and her athletic prowess could power her to professional wrestling success.
