Torrential rainstorms have flooded hundreds of tents across the Gaza Strip, worsening already dire conditions for families displaced by two years of war. Local medics say eight-month-old Rahaf Abu Jazar died of exposure after water poured into her family’s tent in Khan Younis. Civil defense teams, crippled by fuel shortages and destroyed equipment, received more than 2,500 calls for help.
U.N. officials warn that 761 displacement sites sheltering around 850,000 people are at high risk of flooding, with at least 300,000 new tents urgently needed. Makeshift shelters—many made of thin plastic—are collapsing under severe weather as Gazans struggle to rebuild amid ruined infrastructure.
