In this episode, I show the adjustable ground mount solar panel rack that I built to support three 315 watt solar panels that will be used to heat water. The rack is adjustable so that I can change the angle of tilt as the season changes. This way, I can move the panels closer to a 90 degree angle for when the sun is higher in the sky during the summertime. Or, I can lower the panels during the winter to catch more sunlight when the sun is lower in the sky during the wintertime. The rack is built with 4" x 6" posts that are buried about 40 inches into the ground. The top support rail is a 2" x 8" x 12' board. I used a pair of heavy duty strap hinges at the top to allow the tilting of the rack. The solar panels will be mounted to heavy "superstrut" channels that are connected together with the lighter gauge "superstrut" channels.
