Lightning Rod is a roller coaster located at Dollywood. It was built in 2016 by Rocky Mountain construction (RMC). It opened as the worlds fastest and first launched wooden coaster. After 5 years of operation Dollywood has decided to convert a large portion of the Topper track to Steel I-Box. Its been considered by many as one of the best roller coasters in the world and this I-Box track replacement should help it to run more often with less downtime and offer an even smoother ride experience. Opening day it did have a rollback and some downtime which is pretty normal at the beginning of a season. Hopefully Lighting Rod will run great for 2021 after all the work Dollywood did.
