Discussion about monetarism has been long dominated by the advocates of so-called neoclassical economics. Their teaching is prevalent in textbooks, hence in policymaking as well. Yet, their policies fail to deliver. As Stiglitz says:
“The implication is that policies, particularly the policies of the U.S. monetary and regulatory authorities, led to the crisis.”
In this online conference, Rethink Warwick discussed to include more schools of economics into the discussion about what a post COVID-19 pandemic monetary policy should look like and whether how should we deal with the immense and ever-increasing debt in both the US and Eurozone.
