Rising quietly from the rolling hills above Cononley, the remains of Cononley Lead Mine tell a forgotten story of Yorkshire’s industrial past.
This aerial drone footage explores the stark, sculpted landscape left behind by 18th and 19th-century lead mining - spoil heaps shaped like frozen waves, crumbling stone buildings, and the unmistakable chimney stack standing as a lone marker of human effort against the land. Once a place of hard labour and industry, the site is now reclaimed by grass, light, and silence.
Filmed in calm conditions with soft winter light, this video captures the contrast between the mine’s raw, weathered remains and the surrounding Dales countryside. From above, the scars of history become patterns - reminders of how deeply industry once cut into these hills, and how nature patiently moves back in.
