A noting and labelling technique developed by Shinzen Young.
A variation of this technique was originally taught by the great Ven. Mahasi Sayadaw, a famous vipassana master of Myanmar, and by his successor Ven. U Pandita, who taught Shinzen (and, accidentally, me).
There is currently some scientific research into the effect labelling our emotions does for self-regulation. Here, however, this technique is much more broad, and can be seen as a master template for any kind of mindfulness meditation, open awareness meditation, or, actually, any meditation technique whatsoever.
