In this video, I take a close look at a 16" White Oak Armament SPR barrel that’s already seen 4,000 rounds of use. A big thanks to Aiden Hall of Farm 3-Gun for generously loaning it to me. I start by inspecting the barrel on the bench—checking the bore with a borescope, gauging the throat erosion, and measuring the gas block journal and barrel extension. Despite two minor quirks (failing a chamber function gauge and having an oversized gas block journal), the barrel still performed well.
After the bench work, I head to the range for 30-shot groups at 100 yards, testing Hornady 73gr ELD-Match, AAC 62gr FMJ, and AAC 77gr SMK ammunition. I track each shot with a chronograph and a Mantis X10 to detect potential shooter-induced flyers. All groups are measured using the Ballistic-X App for consistency.
Finally, I use my A-ZED (A-Zone Equivalence Distance) metric to translate mean radius data into a practical distance where the rifle’s group would fit a USPSA A-zone (5.91” wide). You’ll see how this White Oak barrel stacks up on my leaderboard, taking a solid second place despite its round count and minor defects. If you’re curious about White Oak’s build quality, accuracy potential, or just want to see how a well-used barrel holds up, this video has all the details!
