四大译经场
The Four Scriptures Translating Forums
汉长安城东北部青门外的敦煌寺
Dunhuang Temple, outside Qingmen Gate in the northeast of Chang'an City in Han Dynasty,
是长安历史上最为悠久的寺庙
is the oldest temple in Chang’an’s history,
也是中国佛教史上第一个大规模翻译佛经的地方
as well as the place used for large-scale Scripture translation.
释道安在长安建立了佛经的译场
Dao'an set up translating forum for Buddhist Scriptures in Chang’an,
可以容纳几百个人同时译经
Which was big enough for hundreds of people to translate at the same time.
在历史上 长安佛教有四大著名的译场
In history, there were the Four Scriptures Translating Forums in Chang’an,
分别是鸠摩罗什译经的草堂寺；
namely Caotang Temple for Kumārajīva,
善无畏 金刚智 不空译经的大兴善寺；
Daxingshan Temple for Śubhakara-simha, Vajrabodhi and Amoghavajra,
玄奘译经的大慈恩寺(大雁塔)
Daci’en Temple(the Great Wild Goose Pagoda) for Mahāyānadeva, and
义净译经的荐福寺（小雁塔）
Jianfu Temple(The Small Wild Goose Pagoda) for Yijing.
