Pacific Crest Trail Day 2 – HARD Miles, EPIC Views

Day 2 of 6 Days and 65 Miles on the PCT – Deception Lake to Deep Lake (12 miles | 1,974 ft ascent | 2,678 ft descent)

This stretch of trail was both beautiful and demanding. Leaving Deception Lake, we wound our way through rugged terrain, climbing and descending nearly 2,000 feet each way. What we didn’t expect was running short on water, passing up a fill spot early, only to find the next “crossing” had run dry. The miles felt longer under that thirst, but eventually the sight of Deep Lake pulled us in.

We scored an incredible campsite right near the lake’s edge, where the evening sky lit up the surrounding peaks in fiery sunset colors. After a long, testing day, it was the perfect reward.
