Northern Central Railway 10th Anniversary Steam Doubleheader-June 18, 2023

Happy Father's Day! Northern Central Railway of York, formerly Steam into History, officially opened on June 1, 2013. In celebration of Northern Central Railway of York's 10th anniversary, Jeddo Coal Co. 85 was brought down to New Freedom, PA for a weekend of excursions with 4-4-0 no. 17. Prior to running their doubleheader excursion, 17 and 85 performed a steam parade run-by in the Northern Central's New Freedom station.

NCR 17 History:
17 is a replica late 19th Century 4-4-0 Rogers steam locomotive constructed in 2013 by the Kloke Locomotive Works in Elgin, Illinois. 17 was delivered to the Northern Central Railway in 2013 and continues to haul passenger excursion trains on the NCR today. 17 is fired with motor oil.

Jeddo Coal Co. 85 History:
"Jeddo Coal Company #85, nicknamed “Mack,” is a standard gauge, coal burning, 0-4-0 Tank Steam Engine owned and restored by Gramling Locomotive Works. The locomotive was built in 1928 by the Vulcan Iron Works for the A.E. Dick Construction Co. of Scranton, Pennsylvania who used it in their stone quarry until 1933 when they sold it to the Jeddo – Highland Coal Company located near Hazelton, Pennsylvania. Jeddo named it Engine No. 85 and used it in their mining operations until 1964 when they sold it to a collector who moved it to Horseheads, New York."
