Industrial Ambience with Forklifts. Industrial White Noises from Unloading a RoRo Ship with Paper Roll Clamps & Trucks. Industrial Soundscapes on a Ship.

Last week I had the opportunity to film and record the ambience in a big warehouse where are stored large rolls of paper. I was told that also on the RoRo ship when unloading the paper rolls there are very nice sounds.

On the day of shooting, I first recorded the sounds on the ship and then drove to the warehouse to record the ambience and the movements of the forklifts and paper roll clamps during storage.

The RoRo ship it’s coming from Norway, unloads here at the Skandinavienkai Harbor, and then the paper rolls are transported to different parts of the Europe.

I used blur in the video because my permission to film and record sound came with the condition that no discernible barcodes and labels on the paper rolls be visible in the video.

And because I live in Germany and here GDPR is very important, I didn't want the employees to be recognisable. Besides the staff didn't feel very comfortable with me being there filming. So I figured a little respect for them wouldn't hurt.
