This epic winter hike in the Bucegi Mountains takes us through frozen forests, up icy trails, across snowy valleys, and finally to the summit of Omu Peak – Romania’s highest point in the Bucegi range. Along the way we stay overnight in the remote Cabana Malaiesti, a classic mountain shelter, battling freezing conditions, steep scrambles, and tough ascents.

From hiking in Romania’s Transylvania near Bran (home of Dracula’s Castle) to standing above the clouds at over 2500m, this journey pushed us to our limits. Expect breathtaking views, freezing temperatures, plenty of laughs, and that mix of banter, struggle, and outdoor adventure that defines Summit or Nothing. With wild life such as Bears, Big Cats and Wolves to avoid, the forests and mountains of Romania are a large leap from the hills of Dartmoor and the UK!
