Neurofeedback is a conversation between the brain and the body, the brain and the mind, and the brain and the whole being. It is a conversation facilitated by a brain-computer interface that lets the brain experience itself directly. The computer receives an amplified signal of the brain’s waves. For assessment purposes, a first reading of the whole brain wave patterns is called a qEEG. The qEEG is a non-invasive imaging technique that supplements the trainee’s personal reports to help the neurofeedback practitioner guide the brain being trained. It provides information about the inefficiencies in the brain’s processing, as compared to a scientifically derived database. The neurofeedback practitioner determines individualized programs based on client report and data to help teach the brain how to work more efficiently, developing new patterns that allow the client to experience an increased capacity for arousal regulation.
Program Overview
TRF’s comprehensive 5-month online Trauma-Informed Neurofeedback Certificate Program (NF-CP) is offered semi-annually with regular sessions of a Case Study Group program (CSG). The course includes both self-paced, asynchronous video sessions, and live/virtual Community Meetings with the course instructors.
There are two steps to this program:
36 hour didactic training for neurofeedback certification including 8 live community meetings and loaner equipment.
After completing Step 1, students continue to the Case Study Group program which is facilitated by a leading trauma-specialized neurofeedback professional. Here you will present and participate in discussions about the use of neurofeedback with trauma patients in six 2-hour small group sessions.
