Quietism: The Spiritual Trap That Endangers Souls

In this homily for the feast of St. Gregory the Wonderworker, we reflect deeply on the essential role of faith, the dangers of the heresy of Quietism, and the truth about our cooperation with God’s grace. Quietism, originating with Miguel de Molinos in the 17th century, falsely promotes a passive spiritual life—one without struggle, virtue, or resistance to temptation.

This sermon explains why authentic Christian spirituality requires active collaboration with grace, the practice of virtue, and the constant pursuit of holiness through penance, mortification, and perseverance.
