🎣 From Water to Plate – A True Catch & Cook Experience
This video starts at Hartbeespoort Dam (Harties), where I catch fresh carp straight from the water.
After the catch, I head home to harvest kale from my own garden, keeping the meal as local as possible.
I then prepare a traditional pap soup, which is used in two ways.
Some of the fried carp is eaten on its own, while other pieces of fried carp are topped with the pap soup, giving it a slightly sweet and comforting taste.
I cook three carp in total, combining crispy fried fish with soft pap soup for a balanced, home-style meal.
The video ends with everything fully served — a true dam-to-plate journey.
Spices used (simple and mostly local):
Rajah Curry Powder – widely available at most brick-and-mortar stores in South Africa
La Dalia Spanish Paprika – harder to find locally, but available online (± 77 g for around R100)
📍 Location: Hartbeespoort Dam, South Africa
🐟 Fish: Carp
🌿 Garden harvest: Kale
