El Desfile de Año Nuevo es una de las tradiciones más queridas de Ajijic y marca el inicio del año con alegría, humor y un fuerte sentido de comunidad. Más que un evento formal, es una celebración profundamente local que reúne a vecinos, familias y visitantes en un ambiente cercano y festivo.
Organizado principalmente por los grupos tradicionales Las Seis Esquinas y La Villa, el desfile destaca por su creatividad y rivalidad amistosa. Los participantes preparan con anticipación disfraces y carros alegóricos hechos a mano, cargados de sátira, ingenio y referencias a la vida cotidiana del pueblo y a los acontecimientos del año que terminó.
El recorrido atraviesa calles clave del centro y pasa por la plaza principal, donde el público se suma sin barreras ni zonas exclusivas. Niños, adultos y visitantes comparten el mismo espacio, aplauden, toman fotos y disfrutan de la música de banda, creando una atmósfera familiar y auténtica.
La celebración continúa en el campo de fútbol del Barrio de Guadalupe con un partido tradicional, puestos de comida y música en vivo. Este cierre refuerza la idea de que el desfile no se observa desde fuera: se vive como parte de la comunidad, incluso para quienes visitan Ajijic por primera vez.
