IIT Madras Hosts BS Degree Convocation, Celebrating Accessible and Inclusive Education

IIT Madras hosted the Convocation and Certificate Distribution Ceremony for its BS Degree Programmes on 8th June 2025, marking a proud milestone in India’s journey toward accessible, inclusive, and future-ready education.

With over 38,000 learners from India and abroad, and more than 52% pursuing the degree alongside another UG programme, the BS in Data Science and Applications and Electronic Systems truly exemplifies ‘IITM for All’ – Annaivarakum IITM.

This year, 867 students graduated with BSc or BS Degrees, including students from humble backgrounds—150 with annual family income below ₹1 Lakh, and 100 below ₹5 Lakh. The topper, Dr. Sadineni Nikhil Chowdary, an MBBS graduate from AIIMS Delhi, also secured Rank 1 in GATE (Data Science & AI).

Chief Guest Mr. Aravind Krishnan, MD at Blackstone, and Director Prof. V. Kamakoti, along with Prof. Andrew Thangaraj, celebrated the achievements of this dynamic cohort. With flexible learning, strong industry alignment, and high academic rigour, IIT Madras is shaping data-literate leaders for a Viksit Bharat 2047 and beyond.
