💗 CARROT OIL (Carrot Scientific name : Daucus carota subsp. sativus. )

Properties and usage :
Carrots are a good source of vitamin C and E as well as alpha and beta-carotene also known as provitamin A. When carrots are infused into coconut oil the nutrients are transferred into the oil providing benefits for the skin and hair. The alpha-carotene, beta-carotene and lycopene found in carrots have been associated with reducing oxidative stress and promoting healthy skin.

Carrot oil with its natural vitamins and antioxidants have skin-enhancing properties. It could promote healthy complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and assist with the healing of scars and blemishes.
Carrot oil contains carotenoids which may provide some natural protection against harmful UV rays. Carrot oil is very beneficial for the hair and scalp. It helps nourish the hair follicles, promote hair growth and improve the overall condition of the hair strands.

Carrot oil also has a very pleasant scent and could potentially be used in aromatherapy.

Carrot oil makes your hair and skin shinier, softer and smoother. It helps prevent hair loss and protects the hair and skin from environmental and mechanical damage. It helps heal your skin and prevent dandruff and dry scalp.

You can apply carrot oil every day on your hair and scalp as a leave-in and hair growth oil.

Caution :
Before using any oil make sure you do a patch test on the crook of your elbow to detect any allergies. Carrot oil can make your skin look orange if you have a lighter complexion. It can also make your hair look orange if you have light-colored hair.
Carrot infused oil is not the same as carrot seed oil.

Carrot shreds becoming brown :
When carrot shreds turn brown during cooking in coconut oil, it is primarily due to a chemical reaction known as the Maillard reaction. The Maillard reaction occurs between amino acids (found in proteins) and reducing sugars (such as glucose and fructose) when exposed to heat. This reaction leads to the formation of new compounds, including melanoidins, which are responsible for the brown color. It doesn't affect negatively the quality of the oil. Make sure to monitor the cooking process very well to avoid overcooking the carrot shreds. The moment they become brown remove the pot immediately from the heat then let everything cool down to room temperature.

Additional information :
It's the beta-carotene (provitamin A) which gives the color of the oil; it's a powerful antioxidant. More than half of the total phenolic compounds of carrots are found in the peels so I highly recommend you to use the peel.
