Arrowleaf Balsamroot - Balsamorhiza sagittata

Identification
Arrowleaf balsamroot are found throughout western North America and bloom from late spring to mid summer from low to mid elevations on open sunny slopes and rocky hillsides. They have long stalked basal leaves that are heart shaped or arrowhead shaped and are 8 to 24 inches long and covered in fine wooly hairs. The arrowleaf balsamroot flowers look like sunflowers and are composite flowers with ray florets around disc florets.
Arrowleaf balsamroot is an edible and medicinal plant found on rocky slopes and sunny hillsides in western North America. This video shows how to identify it and describes some of its edible and medicinal uses.
