The Stone Tape (BBC 1972 Ghost Story)

With an eerie oscilloscope-accompanied theme tune, The Stone Tape was a TV movie about a haunted Victorian mansion whose walls "recorded" traumatic sounds - written by Quatermass author Nigel Kneale & originally broadcast by BBC 2 on Christmas Day 1972.


If you can get past its cringe-inducing racism & misogyny (plus goofy old special effects), it’s a serviceable enough ghost story. But it also features lots of smooth old reel-to-reel tape recorders and headphones!
