Today is the last day of the New Year’s holiday, and we’ll be out all day with our two kids in Wuhan. Right before we leave, I get a call from my uncle—his daughter doesn’t plan to have children, and he’s worried. That phone call stays with me through the day.
In this video, I’m not trying to judge anyone’s choice. I just want to show what a normal weekend looks like here—kids’ classes, malls, food, and the small moments in between—and talk about why more young people in China are choosing “no kids,” or even “no marriage.” It’s not just about money. It’s about housing, time, the cost of living, education, and the kind of childhood people want to give their future kids.
Wuhan changes fast, but some things don’t.
