Eastern vs Midland! 44871 & 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' Through Doncaster - 16/11/2024

Saturday 16th November saw a double dose of steam through Doncaster in the form LNER A4 Pacific No.60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' & LMS Black Five No.44871 running their first 'Christmas White Rose' tours of the season to York, from St Albans and London Kings Cross.

60007 working the Saphos Trains tour from St Albans to York while 44871 worked the Railway Touring Company's tour from London Kings Cross to York.

We kick things off with 60007, running on home-turf of the East Coast Mainline, we capture her as she powers through the Down-Fast Line at full cry, accompanied by a long blast on her Crosby Chime Whistle.

Not to be outdone, 44871 also puts on a pretty impressive performance as she powered through the Down-Fast Line on route to York.

Now for some bonus footage.. I hadn't originally intended to stay out for the return journey.. however whilst in Doncaster with good friends James and Emily. I decided to hang around for the return journey.. which just like the outward leg, also proved to be pretty impressive..

This time we kick things off with 44871 as she is captured powering through Platform 3 with plenty of bark from the chimney.

Finally 60007, once again powering through the fast line accompanied by a blast on her chime whistle.
