A Captain Swan AU Story:

Emma is in a relationship with her long-time boyfriend Neal.
Killian is the guy that lives in her apartment building who has feelings her.

Day in and day out Killian witnesses her relationship with Neal go downhill. This only makes him want to reach out and console her more. Any chance he gets, Killian tries to make her see that Neal is not the right guy for her (not to mention that he is a bad influence on her) but she just brushes his warnings off because how could he possibly know what she needs... right?
As things grow worse between Emma and Neal, she starts to seek Killian out; give him a chance and hear what he has to say. Eventually she learns the hard way about Neal's unfaithfulness. When she finds out that Neal was already in a relationship with another woman when he got together with her, she feels angry and betrayed; so she breaks it off with Neal. Emma tries her hardest to avoid Killian and the opportunity to be completely embarrassed, but when he finds her, she tries to keep it nonchalant as if her break-up had no effect on her. Even though he knows she is lying, Killian decides to let her be, telling her that she knows where he lives if she ever needed to really talk. His words hit home in her heart and she finally finds the courage to go to him. After a reassuring embrace, Killian proves to her that he truly is the right man for her.
