*A note on the Corrales shirt.... Based on the Rojas and Agnew books, the sash seems to have slowly fallen out of favor with working vaqueros in the American Southwest- particularly after the influx of new blood to the West following both the discovery of gold in California and the Mexican Cession in 1848 (the same is true of the heavily embroidered chaquetas). As we're specifically designing a historically accurate vaquero in the American Southwest in 1898, just know that they will look a bit different (more utilitarian and less flamboyant) than traditional Mexican vaqueros of the early-to-mid 1800s. Additionally, it's worth noting that historically when the sash was worn, it was often done so over the vest- which isn't possible in RDO. And as Rojas makes clear, the vest was standard attire for vaqueros by the time of RDO. As such, I simply leave it out. Nonetheless, if you like the look of it- wear it. After all, it was tradition- just no longer very prevalent in the American Southwest in 1898.
