When the world needed billions of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine quickly, a new model of global collaboration, manufacturing, and delivery emerged. In this keynote, Adam Ritchie, Senior Vaccinologist at the University of Oxford’s Jenner Institute and a central figure behind the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine, shares the inside story: how distributed manufacturing enabled rapid global scale-up, how partnerships and regulation were navigated under intense pressure, and what lessons can guide future pandemic preparedness.
The talk is followed by a fireside chat, moderated by Nadine Bongaerts (External Relations Officer at iGEM Foundation), diving into the science, logistics, and human stories behind one of the most significant biomanufacturing achievements in history.
