AITA for Not Loving My Mom’s Husband Who She Cheated on My Dad With?
I (26F) grew up knowing my mom had an affair with the man who is now my stepdad. From the moment he entered our lives—right after my parents’ messy divorce—he expected total respect, punished me for expressing my feelings, and made me feel like my emotions didn’t matter. Now, over a decade later, I’m fully independent and thought he’d changed, but on a week-long family trip, he’s back to the same controlling, rude behavior.
He’s trying to dominate every situation, correct everything I say, and even embarrassed my partner at dinner just to assert control. I’m feeling triggered, bitter, and unsure if I’m overreacting. I want to consider smaller family trips with just my mom and brother, but my mom sees him as part of the family.
