For the longest time, I've been wanting to cover "Lullaby for a Prince" (the coltified version of Ponyphonic's masterpiece). However, I don't have a strong enough singing voice to pull off a Prince Solaris (coltified Celestia), and there's no way I could compare to the rich dulcet tones that Timeyodie has already provided. But what if I tried a coltified version of Luna's Reply, a sort of fanmade response to the song? I couldn't find a decent cover on it anywhere on YouTube, so I smoothed out the lyrics and tried my hand at it. My performance is far from perfect, but I try to make up in character for what I lack in strength. Please enjoy Osiris' Reply, and feel free to provide some constructive criticism if the music spirits compel you.
--Lyrics--
How my deeds haunt me as time stretches on
How could have such violence been sown.
Oh, rest easy now; the punishment's mine.
The weight of the crimes are my own.
Yet into the stillness you sang me your song.
With your voice, my company kept.
For your tired eyes and sweet lullabies,
In exile I pay you my debt.
Once did a stallion who shone like the stars
Look out on his kingdom and sighed.
Disheartened he cried, "Surely there is no pony
Who loves me, or cares for my sacred night sky."
So great was his pain that he rose in rebellion
Against those who cared for him so.
His darkness embraced everypony he loved
And threatened to shroud them in shadow and snow.
Sleep, Prince of Sunlight; good night brother mine.
Rest now in starlight's embrace.
May this soft lullaby see you through sleep
And ease you your passage of days
May my apologies find you tonight
And may, too, my sorrow in kind.
Solaris, you loved me much more than I knew.
Forgive me for being so blind.
Soon did his brother do what was so needed,
and gave to the darkness his due.
He silenced the Harmony, saving his ponies,
And banished the monster, as rulers must do.
And such is the weight of the crown we must wear, brother -
Duties we always uphold.
May you forgive me for all of my sins
And please let your heart not me hardened by cold.
May troubles be far from your mind,
And forgive me for being so blind.
The years now before us, empty and forlorn.
I never imagined we'd face them all alone.
May these thousand winters swiftly pass, I pray.
I love you - I miss you, all these miles away.
May all your dreams be calm tonight
There upon your throne of sunlight.
And know not of coldness, fear, nor gloom.
And when I dream, I'll fly away to meet you soon.
Sleep... Sleep...
Sleep...
