Join the journey of the Knight as he goes on his Riverside Quest to rescue a princess. But, rescuing the princess from the Dragon in the castle in the dark mountains is merely the beginning of the struggle. Both his physicality and mentality are put to the test, and slowly it dawns on him that a very fundamental question is being asked of him: Stay loyal to what you are supposed to be, or to what you want to be?

Heavily inspired by the LoFi scene, I tried to make a song that was also “chill” and vibey. However, of course I needed to add some sort of darker part. Additionally, I made the song real LoFi in some parts – like the intro piano / bells sound – which actually makes the song a bit harsh sometimes. I also experimented a lot with morphed sounds and chorus effects. Originally I had the idea to write the song for the new-born son of my thesis supervisor, but of course I worked on it for too long, so it was already a bit too late for that. Still, the song contains the sort of lullaby vibes. At first, the complete song didn’t have the “solo” textures from either the PO-28 Robot or electric guitar, and it felt a bit empty. Thanks to my parents and friends for pointing that out!

I wrote this album over the course of three-and-a-half years, working on it in periods in between my Pocket Operator albums. I think this album nicely shows my musical progression and maturation, also with respect to workflow and mixing.
