Hey Plant Lovers
Heliamphora heterodoxa:Heliamphoras are fantastic plants to have in ones collection. They are slow growing but incredibly beautiful. In this video, I show you how to repot this plant to create a specimen plant through 'growing on'. It is simple and this is my technique. I have a few and have had them for many years now and they flower year on year. Enjoy this one.
These beautiful and rare plants are native to the Guiana Highlands and are found almost exclusively on Tepuis.
Tepuis are remanants of the ancient Gondwana Super continent. Another well known region in the world like this, is non other than our home in the South Western Cape of South Africa. The Cape Floristic region of the Fynbos biome.
The Tepuis are table top mountains rising from the Jungle floors to dizzying heights protected by shear cliffs and shrouded in cloud and mist. They are mainly composed of Quartzitic sandstone, the high rainfall and cool temperatures are characteristics which cause high acidity and nutrient poor soils. Although life has more than found a way, silent sentinels are rich in endemic plants and are biodiversity hotspots.
Before I go here is some information about Tepuis as promised and the links below:
