A look back at when Waddington in Lancashire became a test bed for new television technology in 1990 when Channel Four & Granada Television put multiple television channels inside 32 homes for the locals to watch.
The experiment wanted to see how people would react to a sudden increase and variety of programmes on offer. The villagers had five weeks with the "future of television" with everything from movies and news to non-stop sport and childrens programmes available 24 hours a day. They also had a chance to make their own television, when they were offered a channel to air their own programming on every night during the experiment.
This was then made into a 6 part tv series for Channel Four (with an end of year review programme looking back at the whole experiment, which is what is uploaded here).
