Hoovermatic 3174 TwinTub Washing Machine (1957)

Hoovermatic 3174 Twintub 1957, The First Hoovermatic Produced by Hoover UK Ltd in 1957 and was made until 1962 in Hoovers Washing Machine factory at Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. The washtub takes 6lbs of clothing and can spin the same weight at the same time.

Using Hoovers "Active Boiling Power" the activator in the side of the tub produces many currents of water to whirl the clothes through the washwater. This model had a heater which was capable of "Boiling" clothes as well. the Spin Dryer spun at 2,100rpm to whizz most of the water from the washing, leaving clothes ready to iron or line dry!!

The Hoovermatic Pulstor motor turns at 1,425rpm whilst the Pulsator in the tub revolves at 545rpm. The Spin motor turns at 8,000rpm and the spinner operates at 2,100rpm

The Heater is rated at 3kw and the water capacity of the tub is 8.5 gallons!!!

Width is 29.4inches, Height is 31.4 inches & Depth is 17inches, the weight of the machine empty is 105lbs, all mounted on 4 roller wheels which makes moving to the sink for use and back to storage very easy!!!
