Waking States (Omer Hershman) is deeply influenced by the philosophy of West Coast synthesis and the pioneering explorations of emergent sound processes on the Buchla system during the 1960s and 1970s.

In this one-hour live performance, repetitive musical structures unfold and transform gradually, weaving intricate and evolving textures. The sound is projected through a quadraphonic (surround) audio system directly controlled by the modular setup, creating a shifting sense of spatial movement. This invites the audience to surrender to listening, drifting between wakefulness and dream in an open, creative stream of consciousness.

Improvisation drives the performance, ensuring each moment is alive, unpredictable, and open to interpretation.
