This video presents the first global documentation of copulation in the Yllenus-group jumping spider Pseudomogrus cf. vittatus, filmed on 4 November 2022 at Jagal, Haripur (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan).
🎥 The 2-minute sequence shows:
• ♂ approaching with fringed forelegs, ♀ responding with a still posture
• Swift mounting from behind and precise pedipalp–epigyne alignment
• Prolonged copulation (~110 s) with subtle movements
• Gentle, non-aggressive separation and a post-mating leg-raise display
🧬 The male shows a bold dark median abdominal band, while the female displays a pale mosaic-patterned dorsum — features suggesting regional variation or a potential undescribed species within the Pseudomogrus (Yllenus) group.
📌 Significance:
• First-ever visual record of mating in Pseudomogrus worldwide
• First behavioral record from Pakistan
• Valuable insight into Salticid courtship and sexual dimorphism
