अमेरिका से एक बड़ी खबर आसिम मुनीर को लेकर आई. खबर ना पाकिस्तान के लिए अच्छी है ना ही आसिम मुनीर के लिए. अमेरिका के 44 सांसदों ने विदेश मंत्री मार्को रूबियो को चिट्ठी लिखकर आसिम मुनीर और उनके नज़दीकी जनरलों पर प्रतिबंध लगाने की मांग की है. मुनीर पर बैन लगाने की चिट्ठी लिखने वालों में, रिपब्लिकन और डेमोक्रेटिक, दोनों ही पार्टियों के सांसद शामिल हैं. इस चिट्ठी में अमेरिकी सांसदों ने आरोप लगाया है कि आसिम मुनीर, पाकिस्तान ही नहीं दूसरे मुल्कों में भी ज़ुल्म-ओ-सितम कर रहे हैं. विरोधी नेताओं के मानव अधिकार violate कर रहे हैं. और हाल के दिनों में जिन अमेरिकी नागरिकों ने पाकिस्तान की फ़ौज और वहां की सरकार के ज़ुल्म-ओ-सितम के ख़िलाफ़ आवाज़ उठाई है. उनको भी धमकियां दी गईं. परेशान किया गया. पाकिस्तान में उनके परिजनों के लिए भी मुसीबतें खड़ी हो गईं. इसलिए, अमेरिकी सांसदों ने ट्रंप एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन से मांग की है कि वो आसिम मुनीर का वीज़ा कैंसिल करें. उनके अमेरिका आने पर बैन लगाएं. उनके नज़दीकी जनरलों पर भी प्रतिबंध लगाए जाएं. अमेरिकी सांसदों ने विदेश मंत्री मार्को रूबियो को दो हफ़्तों में इस पर जवाब देने को कहा है.
