Arriving at Buxton Caravan and Motorhome Club site, September 2024

Arriving at Buxton Caravan and Motorhome Club site on 2nd September 2024 - It was misty and we were not able to see the good views on route. It is what it is though and it is better to let people know that this could happen if they chose to visit there. It is probably more foggy/misty later on in the season or early at the beginning of the season than it would be during the 'summer'.

This video shows the last part of our route to the site, the site its self and footage of us leaving the site at the end of our stay there. I have done a separate video of our adventures walking to Solomons temple and around Grin low and Buxton Country Park.

Buxton Caravan and Motorhome Club site is surrounded by the Peak District National Park and there are many walks direct from the site, to Solomons Temple, Poole's Cavern, Buxton and more. Turn left just outside the site gates and you are in Grin Low and Buxton Country Park car park, which leads to walks to Solomons Temple, Poole's Cavern, and Buxton, or many circular walks around the country park.

I found the site, clean, tidy and the wardens were very friendly. On the day I left I had an issue with my electric tripping and it not only tripped the bollard, it also tripped the motorhomes circuit box. I panicked and tried to reset it but it would not work. I was going straight to Chatsworth CMC from Buxton and had two other sites to go to after that, so I really needed help to sort this issue. I phoned the reception and they sent a very happy, pleasant warden, who eventually found the fault - apparently it was my kettle - that I had used that morning - it had suddenly acquired a fault that was tripping the electric. He unplugged the kettle and everything was fine. Fortunately I did have my 'spare' gas hob kettle in the cupboard so from then on, I was using that.

The other issue I had was that I was leaving Buxton CMC and heading to Chatsworth CMC which, was only 33 minutes away (according to google maps). So... if I had to leave Buxton CMC by 12 noon, and I could not arrive at Chatsworth CMC until 1pm then I had around half an hour that I had to 'waste' somewhere. The warden did say I could 'take my time leaving' but that I might meet incoming traffic on the approach road if it got to near 1pm. So, I left the pitch at 12 noon and took my time emptying the waste water tank at the motorhome service point. Then I took my time (as best I could) on the journey and I called at Aldi in Bakewell on the way for a few bits of shopping.

Overall, I think Buxton CMC site is excellent for walking, dog walking or just dawdling around a peaceful Country park. I am not sure how busy it would get in the school summer holidays but we went 2nd September to 9th September (2024) and it was relatively quiet.
