The building architecture is a work of art that complements the exhibition
Celebrating the prominent location of Sir Winston Churchill Square in the heart of the Arts District in downtown Edmonton, AGA connects galleries and communities to give visitors a first-hand experience of art. Randall Stout, the architect chosen to design the AGA building was inspired by the unique northern environment and urban grid of the city. A powerful horned window in front of a 190-meter-long twisted steel strip that hints at the shape of the North Saskatchewan River and Aurora. 7,900 square meters of AGA is a prestigious center for regional, national, and international arts, education, and science. The gallery completes the cultural district around Churchill Square and integrates the capital of Alberta as a world-class city.
