Justin Foley Jensen - [The Story]

Justin Foley was the beginning of the end, according to Hannah. Little did we know Hannah was the beginning of Justin’s end. That damn smile … None of us will ever forget it.
I began this video as soon as I finished the show. Justin has always been my favorite character. I’ll always remember watching the third episode and realizing how much I was interested in his story … and what a story it was ! I put everything I had into this video and worked many, many, hours, but it’s far from perfect, I know.
His life has never been easy or simple. It was messy and a series of struggle and that’s what he was as well ; messy and struggling. His journey was a pleasure to follow and like he said « People do get better » and he sure did. It’s so damn impressive how much he evolved and changed. He was given a second chance the day Clay and Tony went out to find him and he did his best with this opportunity. I was so proud of him in season 4.
Sadly, again, he was presented with new struggles and this time it was too much, there was nothing he could do about it. He knew he wouldn’t get a third chance. I’m pretty sure he knew he was dying before it was clear for everyone. How can you be that sick without knowing ? But like I tried to show in this video, I think he didn’t think he deserved to be saved, again. When his mom died, he realized no one ever gave her a chance unlike him and he didn’t feel like he deserved it.
Like Clay, his parents and Jess, I would have done anything to help and save him, but unfortunately you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. I would have loved if 4x10 was cut in more episodes. We deserved 13 episodes and Justin’s death deserved, at least, 2 episodes. I really liked that they took the time to show him in the hospital, with his loved ones, but I think the grieving part was way too rushed. Clay grieved Hannah for 2 seasons and we only get to see half an episode for Justin and most of it wasn’t even about that.
Justin Foley will be remembered by all of us and his death broke me like if it was an actual loved one that passed away. I’m still not okay, but everyday it hurts a little less and a little less.
I ended the video with a few words from Brandon because you can tell Justin meant as much to him as it did us and Brandon means as much to us as Justin does. He did an incredible performance all throughout the show, especially in the last few episodes. Brandon gave his heart to this character and I’ll forever be grateful to him for that.
