How to See YouTube Tags

Let's learn how to see YouTube tags on any video in seconds. View tags from the HTML document of the page, or use a free Chrome extension. Let's get into it!

📌 Method 1: View YouTube tags from Code [No Coding Skills]

This beginner-friendly trick works on laptops only (!). While you can see the HTML of the page through the source code on a tablet or a smartphone, it takes a bit more time and steps.


STEP 1: Go to YouTube.com and play a video you want to see YouTube tags for.
STEP 2: Tap once with the right button of your mouse or touchpad
STEP 3: When a small window with several options appears, tap "VIEW PAGE SOURCE" (second from the bottom). Keyboard shortcut on Windows - Ctrl + U
Note, you should not click on the video itself, but anywhere else. Don't fret, you'll see the page with lots of code.
STEP 4: On your keyboard tap Ctrl+F to open a search bar. Then, type the word KEYWORDS into it. You will see it in multiple places on the page.
STEP 5: Use ENTER on your keyboard to jump from the first to last.


STEP 6: Look for the line which contains meta name="keywords" content="keyword1,keyword2, keyword3, …
STEP 7: Copy all the keywords inside the quotation marks between the part of code meta name="keywords"content="... and link rel=
STEP 8: Save video tags elsewhere, or paste into the tags area of your video in YouTube Studio.

📌 Method 2: Find YouTube video tags with VidIQ extension
