I grew up in a family of preachers. Yesterday I recorded a video that reminded me of my father, and that made me suspicious. Even as I was recording it, I thought it sounded just a little too full of myself, too sure that I was right. So I never posted it. In fact, I never even went back to listen to it again.
I have learned the hard way that life isn’t about being good or right, and it certainly isn’t about preaching to other people about how they need to be more like you.
If you ever catch me falling into that trap, please do let me know. What can I say, it’s in my blood, and sometimes I don’t even notice the ways this inherited tendency shows up in my life.
