Class excerpt from a sword and dagger class.
In this class we dealt with the more general ideas of Marozzo's method - that is, not plays per se but ideas regarding the use of falso dritto, which are seen in the same form throughout all his plays, and some general rules that he provides us.
The falso dritto can be used generally in three ways: to interrupt and intercept an an attack from the opponent be it a provocation or a dedicated strike, to provoke and create a tempo, and to exit the measure.
The general rules, on the other hand provide us ideas how do deal with specific situations in a manner of do-this-always after a technique or when a specific situation presents itself (or you have created it). In this class we had a look into how to exit the measure with a falso dritto that is as sister technique to exiting the range with a thrust through Guardia di Faccia.
These are essential techniques for the Bolognese style, theory and flavor, which however can easily be overlooked if one doesn't look at the big picture but only concentrates on single plays.
