"Now Westlin’ Winds"
Dear Friends: A warm hello from cool and rainy Sunlight Basin in Northwest Wyoming.
On a clear evening last week, I went up above the ranch to capture a bit of early evening light.
“Now Westlin’ Winds” is a potent song - its passion and immediacy travel effortlessly from 18th C. Scotland to the present day via the heart and pen of poet, Robert Burns.
No backstory I can provide could adequately illumine these words, so here’s a link to Burns’ lyrics. They are as beautiful to read as they are to hear.

Dick Gaughan is one of my musical heroes. He’s a mighty singer, and a man who “walks the walk” of his convictions. Listen to Dick’s rendering of “Now Westlin’ Winds”, from his 1981 release, A Handful of Earth.
