OU students are organizing the protest in response to the university’s decision to place the graduate assistant on administrative leave after junior Samantha Fulnecky was upset about her failing grade on a reaction essay, and claimed religious discrimination.
Students plan to march from the student union to the south oval, calling for the graduate assistant to be reinstated. The Freedom From Religion Foundation also weighed in, demanding the university return the graduate assistant to the classroom.
In a statement, OU said it “remains firmly committed to fairness, respect, and protecting every student’s right to express sincerely held religious beliefs.”
However, the university has not publicly commented on the protest.
