Geophysical techniques are crucial for mineral exploration and mineral resource delineation, particularly for companies exploring under cover. Geophysical surveys can be easily applied to exploration programs at various scales, from province, district, prospect to the ore zone. However, to improve the chance of exploration success, the correct geophysical techniques need to be applied at the correct scale. In this presentation, we will provide an overview of several different geophysical techniques and discuss how they can be applied for mineral exploration at different scales, and discuss ways in which data may be processed, modelled, interpreted, and integrated with other geoscientific data.
ABOUT TEAGAN BLAIKIE (SOUTHERN GEOSCIENCE)
Teagan Blaikie holds a PhD in potential field geophysics, with undergraduate specialisations in geology and geophysics. She is a specialist in the qualitative and quantitative interpretation of magnetic and gravity data. With over 10 years’ working in academia and government including the CSIRO and NTGS, she has experience in the Proterozoic basins of northern Australia, poly-deformed terranes, sediment hosted minerals systems, and structural geology and mapping.
