Do It Yourself: Vivid Hair Color

I tried to keep this as short as possible because I can’t stand long how-to videos.

It’s best to have a general idea or goal for your hair, but the result is rarely your exact expectation. If you apply hair color on top of hair color (hair that is not white-blonde,) the result will appear darker! It takes me approximately 6 hours to bleach my roots and color my hair, including wash and dry times. To keep your hair color vibrant, always wash your hair with cold water—as cool as you can stand it (warm water opens the cuticle and allows color molecules to escape.) You can use dry shampoo inbetween washes to make your washes less frequent. I don’t have a preference for any brand of lightener, developer, hair color, etc —all brands are pretty much formulaically the same.

It would typically take 6 containers of hair dye to cover my whole head, I just happened to have extra colors. You can find most hair color products that you would normally need a stylist/cosmetology license to buy on Amazon.com.
