Our subdivision which was developed roughly 20 years ago never had a way to properly evacuate storm and ground water during high precipitous periods.
This was a major issue as basements would flood periodically as they could not pump the volume of water they were inundated with, along with nowhere for the water to go except for a shared storm drain collection ravine as seen in the video which was itself when at capacity, essentially causing a circuit of flood water into homes adjacent to it.
The designated collection area had nowhere to drain to as the housing addition sits in low elevation relative to the surrounding area, and the housing addition is not connected to the city storm drain.
In 2019 the County Drainage Board along with HOA set forth an open bid to Engineer and Install a lift pump station along with additional drainage and force water main that would discharge into a local drainage canal to alleviate the surface and ground water problems.
This was the first real non test run during flood conditions.
The pump station works very well.
